Permanent Hair Removal
“Tired of waxing and shaving?”
Broad Band Light (BBL) is a non – invasive treatment to eliminate unwanted hair for both men and women. Treatments are fast, comfortable and convenient, any part of the body can be treated.
How does it work?
A beam of light passes through the skin and is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle. Energy is transformed into heat, which destroys the follicle stem cell responsible for hair growth while leaving the surrounding skin unaffected. Hair grows in cycles and can only be treated during the active growth cycle.
Hairs that are in the resting cycle will not be affected. Due to the cyclic growth of hairs 4 to 6 treatments will be required to eliminate as many hairs as possible. The darker the hair the better, BBL does not work for blonde or grey hair.
What to do before a treatment?
Hair should be shaved 1-2 days before treatment, no plucking or waxing. Areas to be treated should not be tanned as the pulsed light is attracted to the darker pigment.
What to expect during treatment?
The area to be treated needs to be shaved about 2 days before the treatment to allow for some regrowth, stubble should be showing about 1 mm long. A treatment can take 5-10 minutes or up to an hour, depending on the area treated. During the treatment, you may feel a slight sting from the pulsed light.
How much down time?
After a treatment the skin may be slightly red, this will last 2-3 hrs.
What areas can be treated?
Treat almost any body area that has unwanted hair, such as arms, underarms, legs, bikini, back, chest, and face.
How many treatments are required?
Due to the cyclical nature of hair growth, 4 to 6 treatments will generally be required to eliminate as many hairs as possible. Facial hair can require 8 or more treatments. Treatments should be every 4-10 weeks depending on the area treated. To treat facial hair, underarms or bikini – treatments will be every 4-6 weeks.
- To treat leg & back hair – treatments will be every 8-10 weeks.
- If you have been waxing to remove hair – you will have to wait 4-6 weeks after your last wax.
- If you have been tanning you will have to wait 4 weeks before a treatment to allow the tan to fade.
- If you are going to be tanning you will need to do your treatment 2 weeks before tanning.
How long will results last?
Results are permanent; however, some regrowth may appear after 18 months, which may require further treatment.
