Skin Rejuvenation

We have a wide variety of cutting-edge medical technology to keep you looking as young as you feel.

Broad Band Light – BBL light therapy

What is BBL and what does it treat?

BBL is an innovative and effective technology that is setting new standards for skin treatments.  It utilizes the power of pulsed light to deliver excellent results with little to no downtime. By using controlled light energy this non-invasive treatment addresses:es:

  • uneven pigmentation, sun damage, age spots, freckles, port wine stains
  • fine lines, skin firmness, uneven skin texture
  • broken capillaries, telangiectasia, rosacea, spider veins
  • acne, large pores
  • warts

Results in smooth even toned skin that looks healthier and more vibrant. BBL can be used by itself or in combination with other laser therapies for optimized results. Safe, comfortable, fast.

How does it work?

Light energy is absorbed by melanin in the pigmented areas on the skin, or by hemoglobin in blood. Heat from the light energy dissolves pigmented cells and shrinks blood vessels reducing brown spots, fine spider veins and overall redness. Fine lines will also be improved and the size of visible pores will be reduced as the heat promotes collagen production at the skin’s surface.

The skin surface (the epidermis) is protected from injury by the contact cooling device built into the BBL handpiece.

Excellent long term results, especially if you protect with sunscreen, and nourish with a good skin care line!

What to expect during treatment?

Make-up will be removed and photos taken.

Note: BBL cannot be preformed on tanned skin. You must have been out of the sun for 6 weeks before a treatment.

Treatments can take as little as 5-10 minutes, or up to an hour, depending on the area treated. During treatment a cool gel is applied to the skin and you will be given dark glasses to protect your eyes. Light parameters are adjusted for your particular skin type. A glass handpiece is placed on your skin and pulses of light are emitted to treat the skins imperfections. The treatment is relatively painless. Some clients describe a slight stinging sensation.

How much downtime?

Little or no downtime, as BBL does not disrupt the skin’s surface.

May look similar to a mild sunburn for 2 – 12 hours. The treated skin will feel smoother, and fine lines & pores will be less noticeable.

Make-up can be applied immediately, and daily activities can be resumed.

Sun spots will darken and shed within 1-2 weeks. Rosacea redness will decrease after one week. Broken capillaries (spider veins) disappear or go darker, then fade in 1-2 weeks.

What areas can be treated?

Face, neck, chest, shoulders, arms and hands.

How many treatments are required?

Number of treatments required will vary from patient to patient as each individual will respond differently to treatments.

Generally a series of 4-6 treatments every 2 weeks are recommended to achieve optimum results.

Each treatment will provide gradual improvement.

What is the required post care?

  • It is important to follow the clinicians post care advice following a BBL treatment to achieve results you desire.
  • You will be sensitive to UV light and must avoid direct sun exposure until completely healed from a treatment. Once the exposed skin has healed you will need a good quality full spectrum sunscreen.
  • Discuss with our esthetician skin care products and sunscreen that will best suit your needs.

MicroLaser Peel™ – MLP

What is MicroLaser Peel and what does it treat?

The MicroLaser Peel-MLP is the next generation medical laser ideal for those who want immediate skin rejuvenation from aging, sun damaged and scarred skin without a lot of downtime. This gentle laser peel usually requires only 3-5 days recovery time.

This Erbium Yag laser is one of the foremost precision lasers available today. It is this precision that allows for perfect coverage and uniform ablation that was not possible with other laser systems.

MLP is your superficial peel, into the epidermis, that addresses:

  • uneven skin tone and texture
  • fine lines and shallow wrinkles from aging or sun damage
  • scars, moles, and certain types of skin lesions or disorders.

Pigmented lesions, keratosis, scars and moles can be removed by full-face treatment or by spot treatment. Either procedure allows for quick recovery.

How does it work?

The MicroLaser Peel procedure uses a laser with the wavelength of 2940nm to precisely ablate predetermined outer layers of damaged skin with a technologically advanced computer-guided scanner.

You will be able to choose how aggressive you want the peel to be – from a light treatment equal to 2-3 microdermabrasion to one that is deeper and compares to a strong chemical peel but without the long downtime. The MLP is the perfect alternative to microdermabrasion and deep laser resurfacing.

Your treatment will be individually customized to your specific needs.
Once the laser has removed the damaged epidermal skin fresh new healthy skin cells emerge resulting in smoother, healthier, more vibrant skin, and an immediate change in skin texture and tightness.

What to expect during treatment?

Make-up and contact lens will be removed. Photos will be taken and depend on the depth of the treatment numbing cream applied which will take one to two hours to take effect.

Treatment will generally take a few minutes to an hour depending on the size of the area treated. Safety glasses will be worn to protect the eyes.
The laser handpiece will be positioned above the skin and held there while the computer-guided scanner moves the laser beam back and forth over the selected area.

As the MLP does not go deeply into the skin very little discomfort is felt during the treatment.

Once the treatment is finished an occlusive barrier of Aquaphor will be applied to the treated area. Keeping the area covered with Aquaphor for the next few days will help aid in the healing process. Do not use other products until the skin has healed.

You will be given complete Post Care Instructions to take home.
Our esthetician can recommend skin care products and sunscreen you can use at home to enhance and maintain results.

How much downtime?

Immediately after the treatment, you will notice the skin may have a “frosty” appearance. This is the dehydrated skin that will peel away within the next few days.

Redness and flaking may last 2-5 days depending on the peel depth. The skin is likely to feel itchy as the old skin is shed and the new skin is formed. Benadryl tablets plus hydrocortisone cream will help.

You may experience a sensation resembling a sunburn, as well as mild swelling.
Depending on the depth most patients feel comfortable enough to return to work within 3-6 days. Make-up can be applied after the 3-5th day.

Very important to keep your skin clean. Use a gentle cleanser ie. Cetaphil.
Stay out of the sun for 3-5 days and avoid direct sun exposure for 8 weeks post-treatment. After 4-5 days or once your skin has healed use sunscreen with at least 35-70 SPF when going outside at all times.

What areas can be treated?

  • Face
  • Neck
  • Chest
  • Hands
  • Arms
  • Scars
  • Stretch Marks

How many treatments are required?

Excellent results can be obtained in just 1 treatment, however, the number of treatments needed may vary from patient to patient. In some cases, 2-3 treatments may be required to achieve desired results.

Once the skin has healed in 3-6 days you will notice the improvement in tone, texture, and overall appearance.

Maintenance is usually one treatment a year, depending on your skincare regime and sun exposure.

What is the required post care?

It is important to follow the clinician’s post care advice following an MLP treatment to achieve results you desire.

You will be sensitive to UV light and must avoid direct sun exposure until completely healed from a treatment. Once the exposed skin has healed you will need a good quality full spectrum sunscreen.

Tunable Resurfacing Laser™ – TRL

What is Tunable Resurfacing Laser – TRL and what does it treat?

TRL technology makes the Sciton resurfacing laser truly unique among other resurfacing lasers.  It offers independent precision control over the depth of ablation and coagulation making it easy to ablate as shallow or deep as you like, with or without thermal coagulation. This helps to eliminate unwanted side effects such as hypopigmentation, sustained erythema (redness), and prolonged recovery times.

The Tunable Laser is a full field medical laser that ablates deeper into the skin through the epidermis down into the dermis to address deeper wrinkles. It is regarded as the safest most effective laser available to physicians and is ideal for treating deeper lines and wrinkles especially those around the mouth and eyes that have formed due to aging, sun damage, pollutants, and smoking.

Conditions effectively treated by TRL

  • Mild to deep wrinkles
  • Acne scars, post-traumatic and surgical scars
  • Pigmented lesions, sun and age spots
  • Actinic keratosis
  • Uneven skin tone/texture

How does it work?

TRL procedure uses a 2940 nm Erbium YAG laser to precisely ablate predetermined layers of skin layer by layer with the computerized contour scanner. This allows for a wide variety of treatment options, from shallow peels (up to 40µm of ablation) to deep resurfacing (up to 200µm of ablation per pass, with or without coagulation).

The TRL treats tissue with micron precision by tuning in exactly the energy setting required – the higher the energy the deeper the treatment. You will receive only the exact amount of laser energy needed for your skin as determined by the physician.

Treating skin with the laser to the depth of the papillary dermis stimulates the growth of new collagen “re-epithelialization”, which ultimately improves the skin’s thickness and resilience. The skin surface will be renewed with fresh healthy cells giving your skin a rejuvenated appearance.

TRL technology provides the ability to plane down wrinkles externally while internally stimulating the dermal collagen matrix to firm the skin and add dermal stability. A more youthful, pinker and smoother even-toned skin will be yours to look forward to.

What to expect during treatment?

Make-up and contact lens will be removed. Photos will be taken and a topical numbing cream applied which will take an hour to take effect. For deeper treatments, a subcutaneous local anesthetic will be given (similar to a nerve block given by a dentist for freezing) just before the treatment.

The procedure will generally take 45- 90 minutes depending on the size of the area treated. Safety glasses and when necessary eye shields will be worn to protect your eyes.

The laser handpiece will be positioned above the skin and held there while the computer-guided scanner moves the laser beam back and forth over the selected area being treated.

Comfort level varies from person to person. In the areas that received the local anesthetic, you will be completely numb and will not feel anything. Areas with numbing cream may feel some heat and some discomfort like snapping or pinpricks on the skin.

When the treatment is finished you will notice your skin feels tight and warm. Areas that were treated with the deeper laser peel may have a brownish/yellow tone to the skin.

An occlusive barrier of Aquaphor will be applied to the treated area. Keeping the area covered with Aquaphor for the next few days will help aid in the healing process. Do not to use other products until the skin has healed.

You will be given complete Post Care Instructions to take home. Important to read carefully and follow exactly as directed.

Our esthetician can recommend skin care products and sunscreen you can use at home to enhance and maintain results.

How much downtime?

Downtime will closely depend on the depth of your treatment, your state of health, your age and how well you take care of your skin after your treatment.
A lighter TRL may result in 4-5 days of downtime, whereas a deep TRL could range from 5-10 days.

The day after a treatment you will notice weeping and crusting of the skin and it will still have some warmth and redness. Redness similar to a sunburn normally persists for 24 hours to 3 days or 2-3 weeks depending on the depth of treatment. Residual redness may persist for a longer period of time but will fade gradually each day.

Swelling for 1 to 2 days –use of a cold compress will help to relieve the swelling and provide comfort. Sleeping upright for the first night will also reduce swelling.
Keep the skin clean and keep it covered with a protective barrier such as Aquaphor or Vaseline to hold in moisture and protect from external pollutants as the skin heals. Do Not use other products.

Peeling and flaking will occur after 24 hours. DO NOT PICK – let it come off naturally. The redness and flaking may last 2-5 days depending on the peel depth. The skin is likely to feel itchy as the old skin is shed and the new skin is formed. Benadryl tablets plus hydrocortisone cream will help.

Avoid direct sunlight for 2 months post-treatment.

Once the skin has healed APPLY SUNSCREEN of at least 35-70 SPF when going outside at all times.

Avoid hot tubs, sauna, steam and strenuous exercise and sweating until your skin has healed.

Make-up can be applied once the skin has healed – no sooner.

Stop Retin A (Vit A), Vit C serum, AHA products, lightening creams prior to the treatment. With deeper treatments it may take up to 4 weeks before the above products can be applied as the new skin will be too sensitive.

What areas can be treated?

TRL can be used on all skin types, both on the face and the body. Face, neck, chest, and hands are most commonly treated.

How many treatments are required?

Because TRL is capable of deep laser peels, excellent results are typically achieved after just one treatment. If you do not have a lot of downtime available than 2 or more shallower treatments can be done spaced 3-4 months apart.
Maximum benefits from a TRL will be seen 4-6 months post-treatment. You will see positive changes in skin tone and texture within the first 2-3 weeks.
Improvements will continue for up to 6-12 months after.

What is the required post care?

It is important to follow the clinician’s post care advice following a TRL treatment to achieve results you desire.

You will be very sensitive to UV light and must avoid direct sun exposure until completely healed from a treatment. Avoid direct sunlight for 2 months post-treatment. Once the exposed skin has healed you will need a good quality full spectrum sunscreen with at least 35-70 SPF when going outside at all times.
